How to make a night vision camera

What is night vision?

Night vision is usually referred as to the capability to see in the dark.  Humans have poor night vision compared to many animals.

A simple night vision camera.

Infrared night vision combines infrared illumination of spectral range 700nm–1000nm – just below the visible spectrum of the human eye (so this spectrum is invisible to humans) – with CCD cameras sensitive to this light. The resulting scene, which is apparently dark to a human observer, appears as a monochrome image on a normal display device.

The good news is that normal digital cameras are sensitive to infrarred light, so we can use them to make a homemade night vision system.

You are gonna need:

• Infrarred leds: if you have a tv remote controller for example, that is an infrarred led. They are cheap and easy to get.
• Infrarred torch: you put together the infrarred leds. There are already off-the-shelf infrarred torch or flashlight.
• Developed fotographic film: these are the non-used bits of the film when it is developed. It will make up for infrarred filter.
  

• A normal digital camera. It can be your cell phone (mobile phone) or your digital camera.
