66What is a verruca?
A verruca (wart) is a abnormal elevated formation of the skin caused by a virus (human papilomavirus). Sometimes verruca is only used for plantar warts (verruca plantaris).
A verruca can be contagious? yes, they are contagious when in contact with the skin of a person that is infected.
There are different typs (strains) of human papilomavirus (HPV) which caused different types of verrucas. The most common types of verrucas grow on the palms of the hands and plants of the feet. There are also typs of HPV that can cause genital verrucas, which in turn can cause different types of genital cancer.

In most of the cases, the verrucas dissapear in some months by themselves. However, now at days there are several ways to remove verrucas.The most effective methods to remove verrucas are based on the topical treatment using salicylic acid. Other treatments include laser, duct tape, cryosurgenry (freezing the verruca).
Over-the-counter treatments
Exist some over-the-counter options to treat verrucas. The most common treatments that can be obtained in pharmacies (drug stores) are salicylic acid gels or solutions. To remove a verruca using with salicylic acid requires a strict regimen of cleaning the area, applying the product and removing the dead skin. It takes several weeks to get rid of the verruca with this method. Another similar over-the-counter method is based on silver nitrate.
Cryosurgery, or Cryotherapy
use freon refrigerants to freeze the verruca.This producs are available as sprays and sponge to put over the verruca for several seconds.
Prevention. Gardasil is a vaccine for the prevention of cervical cancers and anogenital verrucas (or warts).

My daughter age 7 has had a verrucuca for the last 3 mths,tried everything in chemist,went to doctor today and he just froze them,she hardly felt it,was delighted.

OK i have a few questions, any help will be appreciated!
i've had a verruca for a while, used bazuka - managed to clear the black dots (blood vessels) but they came back again. Then used tea tree oil, this made the verruca smaller and highlighted the black dots. Picked them out with a tweezer, but a few days later they came back. now doing the banana method. Now there just seems to be a hole in my foot! I thin the banana may have worked,i just need to file the dead skin around it.
1) How do you know when the verruca's gone?
2) What does the root look like?
3) How to help the healing of the skin?

Can they be small (less than a cm,the size of a little less than half of a new crayola crayon) and have itty bitty black dots on them?
