What do you need to go to South Africa for the worldcup

The world cup in South Africa 2010 is the biggest event world wide. It happens every four years and this time will take place in the marvellous country of South Africa. This event attracts people from all over the world and it has the highest rating in terms of the number of people following the matches through television. However, many people also travel to South Africa to live this experience first hand.

There are things that you need to have in order to travel to South africa for the world cup and also other things that will make your experience a better episode in your life. Things required:

  • Passport (valid for at least 6 months)
  • South African Visa
  • Plane tickets
  • World cup tickets
  • Vaccines

Your passport is essential, once you have that, you need to apply for a south african visa. It takes around 5 working days to get it and you need to photographs, finance evidence, it costs around 30 pounds, plane tickets. Depends from where you are flying to South Africa, the ticket costs can vary. From Europe, I found very good prices if you fly from the UK. The world cup tickets need to be acquired in advance, although I think you could get them as well once you are there but I am not positive. I got tickets through the FIFA world cup website and I think you can still get some. You are advised to take vaccination before travelling to SOuth Africa and malaria pills if you are planning to travel near the high risk zones which are north east of the country, otherwise you are OK.

The things are recommended to bring:

  • Mosquito repellent
  • Light jacket (many ppl think that South Africa is always a hot country just for being in Africa but it is in the southern hemisphere which means now it is winter down there!).
  • Your fav team jersey or flag. Very advisable so you do not miss out in the cheering up and interacting with fans.
  • Driving license. In case you want to rent a car which is the best way to travel around the country and know distant places.
  • Travel insurance. You never know.

What teams to follow in world cup 2010

In such an important event, there are as always, favourite teams. There are classic teams that usually are important for their football history:

  • Italy (current champions)
  • Brazil - designed for football
  • Spain - current Europe champions
  • Argentina - they've got one of the best teams man by man.
  • Germany (always do well in world cups)
  • Holland - great team and in good shape.

Usually an African team does well in the recent world cups. Maybe South Africa this time, as the hosts or Ivory Coast with Didier Drogba as on eof the most effective strikers in the world. Also, teams that have made a good qualification stage in this world cup are England. And teams that have world famous stars like Portugal with Christiano Ronaldo. Asian teams could the surprise in this world cup or some Latin American team like Mexico or Chile could also have a good world cup.
